Building hardware that lives in the real world.

I'm Kevin — an Electrical Engineering student at Dalhousie University with a passion for embedded systems, IoT, and the craft of turning a schematic into something tangible.

From designing LoRa-connected livestock collars at Ranchflow AI to prototyping PCBs at the Emera ideaHUB, I thrive at the intersection of circuits, firmware, and physical design. I care about hardware that's robust, efficient, and built to last beyond the bench.

When I'm not in the lab, I'm writing screenplays, playing 5-string bass, or supporting Manchester United through every impossible season.

Work Experience

From hardware labs to AI startups — building things that work in the real world.

Hardware Engineer 2025 – Present
Ranchflow AI · Halifax, NS
  • Designed the ESP32-based livestock monitoring collar subsystem, integrating LoRa telemetry, GPS modules, and low-power sensor arrays for remote cattle tracking.
  • Implemented LoRaWAN protocol stack for long-range (10+ km) data transmission from collar nodes to gateway infrastructure.
  • Developed PCB schematics and layouts in KiCad for the embedded collar hardware, optimising for form factor, battery life, and harsh environmental conditions.
  • Collaborated with firmware and AI teams to define data payloads and sensor sampling strategies for livestock health inference.
Electrical Engineer (Co-op) Jan – Apr 2026
Dalhousie Emera ideaHUB · Halifax, NS
  • Assisting with PCB schematic and layout using KiCad and LTspice for electrical product prototypes across multiple startup teams.
  • Designed mechanical components using SolidWorks and produced parts via 3D printing for rapid prototyping workflows.
  • Supporting engineers and startups with prototype setup, electrical testing, and technical documentation.
Data Analyst (Co-op) May – Aug 2025
Colchester Sexual Assault Centre · Truro, NS
  • Designed and implemented an automated grant discovery tool using Python, Selenium, and AI-powered draft generation, reducing research time by 60%.
Mathematics Instructor Jul 2022 – Nov 2023
Mathnasium of Halifax · Halifax, NS
  • Tutored students in mathematics within a team of 3+ instructors in a fast-paced, high-volume learning centre.
  • Developed personalised strategies to improve student performance and foster long-term academic success.
